As a result, there is a considerable reduction in the amount of time Redshift requires to complete a single, massive job. These Nodes perform their computations parallelly rather than sequentially. A large processing job is broken down into smaller jobs which are then distributed among a cluster of Compute Nodes. Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) is a distributed design approach in which the divide and conquer strategy is applied by several processors to large data jobs. The key features of Amazon Redshift are as follows:ġ) Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) Image Source Redshift has a concept of temporary tables or Redshift Temp tables which exist just for the duration of the session, and they automatically discard the data when the session ends.įor further information on Amazon Redshift, you can follow the Official Documentation. Unlike on-premise data warehouse solutions, Amazon Redshift provides users with more flexibility at a lower cost. Amazon Redshift Data Warehouse is an excellent replacement to traditional data warehouses, as it addresses several flaws of dated in-house data warehouses. Therefore, companies are increasingly on the move to align with such offerings on the Cloud as it provides them with a lower upfront cost, enhances scalability, and performance as opposed to traditional On-premise Data Warehousing systems.
![]() ![]() Molecules with mirror symmetry like oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and carbon tetrachloride have no permanent dipole moments. As you can see, ammonia consists of one nitrogen atom covalently bonded to three hydrogen atoms. For example, ammonia (NHsub3) is a polar molecule. Their vector sum is zero, so CO2 therefore has no net dipole.Ī dipole moment is simply the measure of net polarity in a molecule. Because the two C–O bond dipoles in CO 2 are equal in magnitude and oriented at 180° to each other, they cancel. H2O has dipole moments, but they do not cancel out because they are equal but not opposite in direction.Įach C–O bond in CO 2 is polar, yet experiments show that the CO 2 molecule has no dipole moment. Therefore, CO2 is a nonpolar molecule despite having polar bonds. What is dipole moment out of water and carbon dioxide which is polar and why?ĬO2 has dipole moments, but they cancel out because they are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. In H2O, Oxygen is more electronegative, so the dipole moments would face inwards towards oxygen and consequently cancel out. Keep in mind that in CO2, Oxygen is more electronegative, so the dipole moments are facing opposite directions (away from the central atom of Carbon), making the molecule polar. In the case of water, oxygen is more electronegative than hydrogen, so both dipoles point from hydrogen to oxygen. According to an electronegativity chart, oxygen is more electronegative than carbon, so we draw our dipoles pointing from carbon to oxygen. In the case of carbon dioxide, we have two dipoles. Why does the water molecule have a dipole and why doesn’t the carbon dioxide molecule have one? It is because water has been a bent structure in which two O-H bonds are oriented at an angle of 104.5° and do not cancel the dipole moments of each other. The CO2 molecule has a zero dipole moment even though C and O have different electronegativities and each of the C = O bond is polar and has the same dipole moment. Why is the dipole moment of CO2 is zero while H2O is a polar though both have similar formula? 5 Why does CO2 have no dipole moment but SO2 has?.2 What is dipole moment out of water and carbon dioxide which is polar and why?.1 Why is the dipole moment of CO2 is zero while H2O is a polar though both have similar formula?. That’s not really a big deal, but it would be nice if they fixed that. In iTunes, the track list correctly shows the track artist (sometimes McCartney, sometimes Wings), while in Swinsian, it’s always showing the album artist in the track list (though it does show the correct artist in the detail pane on the right). You can see the issue on the McCartney box set shown in the screenshots below. It’s got some flexibility on that, but it’s not completely consistent. I’m also not sure that I like the way it handles “album artists” vs “artists”. If I was fully committing to Swinsian, I’d just leave the audiobooks in iTunes and move the music to Swinsian, and everything would be fine. I’m not sure how to get around that one, or if it’s really that big a deal. So all of my audiobooks are intermixed with my music. (If I could abandon iTunes and let Swinsian manage all my music, things would be smoother.) Probably the biggest one right now is that Swinsian doesn’t really distinguish audiobooks as a separate category, the way iTunes does. I only have a few issues with Swinsian, and they’re mostly related to the necessity to keep iTunes going. (Swinsian can sync to older iPods, but not to iOS devices.) That arrangement probably makes the most sense for someone like me, since I still want to be able to sync music to my phone from iTunes. This allows me to add music in iTunes, which should then show up in Swinsian the next time I start it up. There are a few ways you can set things up, but (for now) I’m leaving my music in the iTunes library and folder structure, and letting Swinsian re-scan the library on startup. It imported everything, including play counts and playlists. Pulling in my music from iTunes to Swinsian was easy. The default text size was a little too small for my tired old eyes, so I turned that on right away. You can easily change that to show genre, artist, and album, similar to iTunes.Īnother thing I appreciate is that Swinsian has a “large text” option. The screenshot below shows two columns, for artist and album. That browser is also very customizable in Swinsian: you can have between 1 and 3 columns, and you have several options as to what you display in them. ![]() I’ll get to MediaMonkey in a later post, but I thought I’d write up some notes on Swinsian.Īs you can see in the screenshots below, Swinsian does fix my current gripe with iTunes: the browser at the top of the window shows a perfectly reasonable number of rows, by default (vs. My nit-picking complaints about iTunes 12.7 (see here and here) have led me to start experimenting with Swinsian (on my Mac) and MediaMonkey (on my PC). It seems to pick up perfectly where the 1.7Ah battery leaves off. The PowerStack 5Ah battery, on the other hand, performed well with any and every 20V Max cordless power tool I tested it with. What I have found is that the compact PowerStack battery is a great substitute for traditional cylindrical cell compact batteries, and even higher capacity batteries where I need higher power delivery but not necessarily the longer runtime. In theory, I might still use cylindrical cell 8Ah batteries for longer runtime, but in practice I tend to reach for FlexVolt 9Ah batteries for more demanding and longer power-draining tasks. Do I want a more compact and lighter battery? Or would the tool or task benefit more from higher power and longer runtime?įor my uses, these two battery sizes could replace all of my 20V Max cylindrical cell cordless power tool batteries from 1.3Ah to 8Ah. However, the difference really comes down to intent. I sought out thinking there would be tools and tasks clearly matched to the PowerStack compact 1.7Ah battery, and others that are better matched to the PowerStack 5Ah battery. While both PowerStack batteries, 1.7Ah and 5Ah, are engineered with 5x Li-ion pouch cells, the 5Ah battery is going to be capable of greater power delivery than the 1.7Ah battery.īased on my testing so far, the PowerStack 5Ah battery is the ideal match for heavier duty tools, such as angle grinders, larger rotary hammers, 7-1/4″ circular saws, blowers, and other tools where runtime or power are the priority. ![]() The PowerStack 5Ah battery can deliver longer runtime compared to the 1.7Ah battery.Įven though the PowerStack 1.7Ah battery is 50% more powerful than the compact 2.0Ah battery (DCB203), the PowerStack 5Ah battery can deliver 50% more power compared to the 5Ah battery (DCB205).Īs the DCB205 battery is engineered with 10x 18650 Li-ion cells, it is capable of greater power deliver than the DCB203 battery, which is engineered with 5x 18650 cells.
